The Summer Theatre of New Canaan offers a diverse professional quality theatre intensive program for high school students entering grades 9-12. The program is a 2-week immersion in a variety of theatre styles and techniques taught by Broadway and Professional artists. The High School Theatre Intensive gives students a new understanding of ensemble building and personal discovery, as well as the tools necessary to be both strong actors and informed theatre artists.
Each day is split into core training and workshops/ master classes.

Broadway and off Broadway, Opera, TV and Film fight and stunt choreography,
on faculty of the New York Film Academy, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts,
the Renaissance Theatre Academy and Circle in the Square Theatre School.
Doug Shankman choreographer:
artistic director of Contemporary Dance Arts, a company dedicated to creating new work for theater, film, and television,
instructor Broadway Dance. Awarded Best Choreographer in CT by the CT Critics Circle, Toured nationally with Broadway shows and national dance companines.
The High School Intensive students attend a Broadway show! It usually will include a talk back with the cast and or back stage tour. Students are also invited to all Summer Theatre professional productions, and are encouraged (on weekends) to assist our theatre staff to expand their experience. At the end of the program students will give a creative demonstration their new skills to an invited audience.
