Jr Company Summer Musical Camp!
Become an actor in The Summer Theatre of New Canaan's Junior Company! We've created this musical performance program just for middle school students entering grades 5-9. Junior Company cast will work with professional actors, director, choreographer, designers and crew from our company who will instruct, rehearse and help them put on their show in our Tent Theatre at Waveny Park in New Canaan. All students who wish to participate must first register and, if possible, attend the audition. The program is limited to the first 30 students who register. All students who register will be accepted into the company and cast in the show. Auditions are held to help the creative team for cast placement.
Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter
Book by Bella and Samuel Spewack
KISS ME, KATE is considered one of Broadway’s great treasures. An ex-husband and wife team are reunited to star in a musical version of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew", but off-stage behind the scenes the production is rife with musical comedy, romance,, sophistication, and high jinks between ex-lovers' quarrels and gangsters looking for kickbacks. Merriment abounds in this most classic of Broadway musicals. KISS ME, KATE combines the humor of two brilliant writers: Cole Porter and William Shakespeare. Musical numbers include Another Op’nin, Another Show, So In Love, Wunderbar, Tom, Dick or Harry, Too Darn Hot, I Hate Men, Always True to You (In My Fashion) and Brush Up Your Shakespeare.
