Open call for girl ballet dancers
We are seeking girl ballet dancers for a children ballet ensemble for our professional summer season production of Billy Elliot.  Must be between the heights of 4’ - 5’ and ages 8 and up and have prior dance training. Looking for all types and sizes for various characters. Seeking all vocal ranges, and must sing well.  

These are unpaid positions however EMC points can be earned. Conflicts with production schedules and rehearsals will not be permitted and talent will be cast accordingly.

Rehearsal & Show Schedule:
Rehearsals begin June 14 - July 9: Generally Tuesday through Sunday (However, Ballet Girls will be called only at select times (not during public school hours while in session) and must be available for all technical rehearsal calls and performances. (No rehearsal July 4th)

Performances begin July 10: 
Run through July 26. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees.

Times:
Wed February 26,   Dance from 6 - 8pm.  6 - 7pm Singing from 7 - 8pm.  

Please wear ballet attire or form fitting clothing. Bring ballet shoes, tap shoes if you tap and pointe shoes if you are proficient in pointe. Please prepare 16 bars of a song and bring sheet music (an accompanist is provided)  or an accompaniment CD, plus your picture and a resume with your experience and training, 

Roles include:

Ballet Girls: Looking for all types and sizes for various characters. Seeking all vocal ranges, and must sing well.

Debbie: Mrs. Wilkinson’s daughter. Totally neglected by her mother. Has developed an acerbic
attitude like her mother in an effort to survive. Has boys on the mind and is totally in love w/ Billy but flirts the only way she knows how, with sarcasm.

Tracy Atkinson: Has been taking Mrs. W’s ballet class since she was 5, and for some reason, Mrs. W has never liked her. She is always bored since she has been taking the same class for so long, but she is still trying to get Mrs. W to like her and tries hard. Tracey has become more interested in eating pie than ballet class. She can’t stand Susan Parks.

Alison Summers: Looks up to the other girls in the class; and thinks they are all very good. She thinks Billy is weird and gross. She is the “youngest”. Vague and cute.

Keeley Gibson: Never pays attention and is very absent-minded / space cadet. She almost doesn’t know where she is half the time. She is mouthy, forgetful.

Julie Hope: Is very social and is always talking too much in Mrs. W’s ballet class. She can’t keep her mouth shut and is always annoying everyone around her.

Sharon Percy: Wants to become a Broadway star. She always tries her best in Mr.s W’s ballet
class. She is very competitive, especially with Tina. She will not let anyone get in her way of
becoming a star. She thinks very highly of herself and wants to be the best in the class.

Tina Harmer: Wants to become a Broadway star. She always tries her best in Mr.s W’s ballet class. She is very competitive, especially with Tina. She will not let anyone get in her way of becoming a star. She thinks very highly of herself and wants to be the best in the class.

Susan Parks: Extremely enthusiastic and loves Mrs. W’s ballet class. She can’t dance at all, but she always tries her hardest and has a positive attitude. She is extremely uncoordinated. She can’t stand Tracey Atkinson.

Angela Robson : A daydreamer and is constantly looking up at the ceiling, discovering all the pretty lights and things on the ceiling. Her mind is never in Mrs. W’s ballet class.
