EQUITY CONTRACT
LOA ref. to LORT; $450/week minimum

SEEKING
Equity actor/singers for all roles and ensemble. Good movers/dancers a plus. (no dancing required for CT audition) Local area actors residing within 50 miles of New Canaan are strongly encouraged to audition. 

PREPARATION
Prepare two contrasting song cuts in the style of Billy Elliot The Musical. Accompanist will be provided.  Be prepared to read, sides provided at audition. Bring picture and resume. Actors chosen for call backs will be notified following their audition.

Commute from NYC 65 minutes+/- by Metro North.
NYC transportation/commute stipends provided for cast & staff.
Contract for 6 weeks (3.5 weeks rehearsal & 3 weeks of performances Thursday - Sunday.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Note:  Housing and Travel:  The Summer Theatre of New Canaan does not provide housing for its actors. Equity actors must reside within 50 miles from our theatre.  For NYC area actors,the Summer Theatre will provide train tickets via Metro North for travel between NYC and New Canaan.  If commuting by car greater then 25 miles, the theatre will allocate an adjusted allowance toward auto travel expenses to be determined on an individual basis. Car pooling may be available.

Note: INTERNSHIPS
Our college summer internship program is available for acting, administrative technical and educational positions. We are casting 8 actors in our TYA show and to perform ensemble roles in Billy Elliot. (EMC credits are available). If interested you may apply online prior, if being considered will receive an audition.
4 technical (all disciplines)l, three costume/wardrobe, 3 stagemanagment and 3 administration interns positions are to be filled for the season

Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to audition. All characters speak with English dialect

Billy Elliot: Gender: male. Age: 10 to 13. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: E3.

A boy who stumbles upon a ballet class and develops a passion for dance. To him, dance is a way to feel whole and free himself from the problems of life. He finds himself stuck between appeasing family and chasing his newfound love. Must be an excellent ballet and tap dancer, some acrobatics.

Dad: Gender: male. Age: 40 to 55. Vocal range top: Eb4. Vocal range bottom: A2
Billy's stoic father. A widowed miner struggling with maintaining a household in lieu of a work strike, he 
is still deeply scarred by the death of his wife. Billy's dancing initially sends him into a rage but he 
learns to support his son. Doesn’t need to dance.

Grandma: Gender: female. Age: 60 to 75. Vocal range top: F#4. Vocal range bottom: F#3
Billy's eccentric grandmother. She is forgetful and a little aloof. Despite her inattention, she harbors a bitter resentment for her late husband.

Mrs. Wilkinson: Gender: female. Age: 40 to 50. Vocal range top: Bb5. Vocal range bottom: Gb3
The local ballet teacher who eventually becomes Billy's mentor. Hardened and mouthy, she actually has capacity for caring when she sees promise in Billy. Believes in the power of personal expression through dance. Must be an excellent dancer, tap optional.

Tony: Gender: male. Age: 18 to 25. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: D3
Billy's brother. A lazy but passionate miner. Hotheaded and scrappy with seemingly no regard of respect for his father, although he shares his disapproval of dance. Must be a good mover.

Mum: Gender: Female. 30 to 45. Vocal range top F5. Vocal range bottom: G3. Billy’s mom who died when he was young. Compassionate, loving. A source of strength for Billy. Mover.

George: Gender: male. Age: 40-55. Boxing Coach. An imposing, gruff and tough miner. Comedic skills. Must be a good mover.

Mr. Braithwaite: Gender: male. Age: 20-55. Vocal range top: C4. Vocal range bottom: G2

Accompanist: Gender: male. Age 30+ (actor doesn’t need to play the piano), comedic skills. Must be an excellent mover. 

Dream Billy: Gender: Male. Age 20-30
A dream image of the star ballet dancer Billy will become. Must be an excellent ballet dancer.

Michael: Gender: male. Age: 10 to 13. Vocal range top: B4. Vocal range bottom: A#3
Billy's careless and fun-loving best friend. He lives in the realm of expressing oneself, going so far as to commonly dress in women's clothing. Must be an excellent dance, tap optional.

Adult Ensemble: Age: 30-60. Seeking an ethnically and physically diverse ensemble of excellent male and female singer, dancer, actors to play Miners; Police Officers;, Royal Ballet School Members. Strong movers and a range of dance ability are needed including some excellent tappers.
