Equity actors to play:  teen, housewife, business woman (see breakdown)
- all southern Country Western Singers, can move or dance well. Theatre company encourages actors of color to audition. Local actors who reside within commuting distance particularly encouraged to submit.

HONKEY TONK ANGELS
CASTING BREAKDOWN (Equity Non Equity)
Angela: A Texas housewife in her mid thirties. She has a great sense of humor and a fiercely
independent streak. She identifies with “Roseanne,” an earth-mother comedienne. Powerful leading
mezzo. Sings “Stand By Your Man” and “Harper Valley PTA”

Darlene: A young woman from the deep South in her late teens to early twenties. She is pretty, sweet
and simple. A young woman who grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia and the Mississippi
Delta. She plays simple guitar. She also clogs (the mountain version of “tap dancing”). Country
soprano with belt. Sings “I Will Always Love You” and “Fancy.”

Sue Ellen: A Los Angeles career woman in her thirties. She is a “citified” country girl in her mid-thirties.
Smart, very attractive, sexy and frustrated. She dances, roller skates and twirls baton (if possible). She
also clogs. She should be a great dancer. Alto belter. Sings “9 to 5” and “Rocky Top.”

Callbacks will also be via video submission.  Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination.

All actors must be willing to commute to New Canaan, CT for performances and  rehearsals.  Actors of color encouraged to audition.

Honky Tonk Angels: Salary $500/week,
Stoop Kids Stories LIve: TYA Paid Role to be determined

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Actors 18+ to play elementary/middle school age children full of Black Girl Magic and Black Boy Joy.

PEACH: Black/African American. Very intelligent. Knows that she is capable of succeeding but has doubts. Athletic. Extremely hard worker. Strong Dancer. Soprano.

NATHANIEL: Black/African American. Peach's best friend and hype man. Has Peach's back no matter what. High energy. Strong Dancer. Tenor. In Act 2, doubles as James. 

MCKINLEY: Black/African American. The oldest of the crew. SGA President. Giving Michelle Obama vibes if Michelle Obama was in middle school. Doubles as the teacher Ms. Blaze and as the bully, Big J. Dancer

 TIA: Black/African American. The newest friend to the crew. The stylish one. Hair is always “laid”. Doubles as Peach's mom.

 BREA: Black/African American. Loves to dance. Byron's twin sister. The more level headed twin. Became IG famous from a viral dance video her and her twin created. Popular. Strong dancer. Doubles as Cookie.

 BYRON: Black/African American. Brea's twin brother. Loves to dance. Could care less about school work, he is always making up an 8-count in his head. Cool, calm and laid back. Strong dancer. Tumbling is a plus. Doubles as Keenan.

KARR: Black/African American. Friends with Peach. The “tech”-y one of the group. Always taking apart things and putting them back together. Also doubles as Trey and Marquise. Dancer.

For Stoopkids Stories Live! Please prepare 32 bars of a song of your choice, one that best reflects your singing ability and shows your vocal range.

We are seeking girl ballet dancers for a children ballet ensemble for our professional summer season production of Billy Elliot.  Must be between the heights of 4’ - 5’ and ages 8 -15 and have prior dance training. Looking for all types and sizes for various characters. Seeking all vocal ranges, and must sing well.  

These are unpaid roles. However, EMC points can be earned. Conflicts with production schedules and rehearsals will not be permitted and talent will be cast accordingly.

Rehearsal & Show Schedule:
Rehearsals begin June 16 
Generally Tuesday through Sunday (However, Ballet Girls will be called only at select times (not during public school hours while in session) and must be available for all technical rehearsal calls and performances. (No rehearsal July 4th)

Performances July 10 - 26
Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees.
