Company Manager
The Summer Theatre of New Canaan
The Company Manager is a key member of the administrative team at The Summer Theatre of New Canaan, supporting the day-to-day operations of the theatre’s professional MainStage productions and educational programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Company Manager serves as the primary liaison between artists, staff, and administration, helping ensure a positive and well-organized environment for all company members throughout the season.
This position requires a highly organized, proactive team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced summer theatre environment and is willing to step in wherever needed to support the success of the organization.
Responsibilities
Artist & Company Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for actors, directors, designers, stage managers, and guest artists.
- Provide day-to-day support for company members throughout rehearsals and performances.
- Foster a welcoming, supportive, and professional company environment.
Administration & Payroll
- Submit weekly payroll for all company members.
- Assist with seasonal hiring and contracting processes.
- Support the Executive Director with administrative projects as needed.
Union Compliance
- Process and maintain required reporting for Actors’ Equity Association.
- Help ensure the company adheres to all Equity rules and contractual requirements.
Program & Operational Support
- Provide administrative support for MainStage productions and educational programs, including Junior Companyand DramaRamas.
- Oversee scheduling for college interns and actively manage administrative interns.
Front of House
- Manage front-of-house operations during performances and coordinate with production staff to ensure smooth audience services.
Qualifications
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in theatre or performing arts administration required; summer theatre or festival experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with union theatre environments preferred.
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s license required.
Candidates who do not rely on train transportation are strongly preferred.
Residence within 30–45 minutes of New Canaan, CT is highly preferred.
Housing is not provided.
